My dad hasn't been feeling that great lately, God sure did have a weird way of cheering him up today. He and my step mom were meeting at a restaurant to have dinner together. When he got there my step mom surprised him with some tickets to a play. She handed him a paper name tag and directed him to a room in the back of the restaurant where the play was to begin.
It was a narrow room filled with church pews and a big projector screen at the front of the room. The church pews were aligned against the right wall with very little walking room on the other side, so once you sat down there was very little hope you were going to get back up unless you were on the open side of the pew. While my step mom was in the other room getting a snack my dad asked a couple behind him when the play was going to start.
The husband chuckled "that's a good one, the meeting starts in about ten minutes", my dad waited to see if the guy would yell "sike!" but after a few seconds of looking confused he asked what kind of meeting it was.
I guess the guy realized my dad was being serious so he replied "this is a meeting for film makers".
Dad turned around in his pew looking bewildered, that explained the name tag. After sitting in shock for about five minutes he slipped his phone out if his pocket and sent a text to my step mom that read the following: GET ME OUT OF HERE!!!. My step mom came back into the room with her snacks to ask my dad why on earth he would want to leave this wonderful play that hadn't even started yet. I wish I could have had the liberty to see her reaction when she found out what she had actually bought tickets for.
After meeting a Christian film maker who made the short film 'The Last Miracle' and meeting the anchorman for news channel four they finally left two hours later. The Lord sure does work in mysterious ways.
